From Brazil to Newark

Born and raised in Brazil and Italy, Matheus started training Jiu Jitsu at a young age after moving to the US.. His natural passion and work ethic quickly separated him from his peers. Competing at the highest levels, he earned major titles in the Pan American Championships and became known for his technical guard, pressure passing, and calm composure under pressure.

After earning his black belt in 2022, Professor Matheus began to bring his experience to the new generation of Renzo Gracie Newark students. His teaching style blends traditional Gracie fundamentals with the modern techniques that dominate today’s Jiu Jitsu scene.
